Pontiac G6 Power Steering Lock Up
2 comments
If you drive a 2006 Pontiac G6, I'm sure you are well aware of the *** steering. I purchased the car used and from the time I left the dealership it had a pull to the right.
Always knew something was wrong, but it wasn't until the steering wheel locked up that I was convinced. But I just read on the internet that GM Has recalled the Pontiac G6 in Canada for the faulty Power Steering, but why not here in the US.
Why does it take loss of lives before companies get engaged and do the right thing. The G6 is a good looking vehicle, but it is truly a piece of ***.

Did you have all the recall repairwork done on the car? There are lots of recalls involving the steering on g6's.
There was a lot of faulty stuff going on with the steering columns and the power steering assist. If you didnt have the issued fixed.. for free... then it's your own fault.
Go to safecar.gov to enter your vin and see the recalls, things reported and investigations.
They have a lot of problems but the most dangerous are recalled to be fixed. Take care of your car!
I can certainly relate to that! Jeez.
I was driving last night and mine locked up as well, mid turn. I almost went off the road. Thankfully I was traveling at residential speeds. I forced the steering wheel-big mistake.
Something broke inside the rack & pinion. I'm getting a sound like slack in a gear and the steering wheel will occasionally spin without turning the wheels, as if it's jumping teeth inside the rack & pinion.
GM needs to recall this junk rack before someone gets killed. Once I replace it, the car's going up for sale and it'll be the last GM vehicle I own.
